ABOUT ME
Hello! I’m Abby, the founder and creator behind Weavella. I’m passionate about design, crafting, and sustainability, and I love the challenge of creating something myself rather than buying it. Through my work, I aim to add a touch of handmade charm to everyday life. Growing up, I was surrounded by a family of creative women whose resilience, skill, and beautiful handmade creations inspired me. With their influence and my own hook and yarn, I began crafting my own path in the world of crochet.

My first ever knitting project
My crochet journey began when I was around 8 or 9 years old. My grandma patiently taught me how to crochet and knit, even as I constantly undid my work to start again. I was so captivated by knitting that I took my needles everywhere—even to church—and even brought them along on a trip to Sydney! With my grandma’s help, I finally finished my first project: a bright blue beanie, just in time for autumn.
As I grew older, I explored other creative hobbies and put down the yarn for a while. But during lockdown, I stumbled upon a ball of yarn, and though I’d forgotten how to knit with needles, I still remembered finger knitting. Slowly, I worked my way through the entire ball, creating a piece long enough to stretch down my entire street and back.
After that, I set aside the yarn once more to focus on new hobbies like sewing and journaling, which I still enjoy today.
MY JOURNEY
It all started with a TikTok video of a beautifully crocheted flower bouquet. My best friend’s birthday was just around the corner, and I wanted to make her something truly special—something that would show how much she meant to me. I was instantly inspired, even though I’d never crocheted anything before. After watching countless tutorials and spending a cozy weekend with my grandparents, who offered lots of patient advice and encouragement, I finally got the hang of it. The bouquet took hours of trial and error, but I finally finished it just in time. In fact, I was still wrapping it as I was about to walk out the door!
That bouquet (pictured, which I finished on March 13, 2022, became my first real crochet success. Looking back now, I see how that one small project sparked a passion that kept growing. Three years and countless creations later, I’m thrilled to finally launch the business I’ve dreamed of for so long. I can’t wait to share my crochet creations—and the journey behind them—with you!
